PREPARE — Understand the AHD-TT-1.0 Design
The AHD-TT-1.0 reference geometry was drawn around stock approximately ¾" thick × 7¼" wide. These are AHD design dimensions, not dimensions taken from an external plan. Nominal lumber dimensions are not the same as guaranteed actual dimensions, so verify the stock you intend to use before relying on the fitted dimensions below. Stage 5 — PRE-BUILD Completion Gate
PRE-BUILD is complete in the AHD planning system when: the reference dimensions and part relationships are understood, actual stock is verified, and you have identified the authoritative instructions governing every cutting, drilling, fastening, workholding and finishing operation you intend to perform.

BUILD — Follow the Reference Sequence With the Governing Instructions
The sequence below explains what the AHD reference design is trying to accomplish. It deliberately does not teach saw or drill technique. Perform each operation only according to the instructions for the specific tools, accessories, fasteners and products you are using.
1 — Prepare and Identify the Reference Parts
Prepare the bottom, paired long sides, paired end panels and handle component to the current specification. Before assembly, compare paired parts and the resulting geometry with the reference cut list.
VERIFY 1 — Do the Parts Match the Design?
If paired components or the reference geometry do not agree, stop before assembly. Return to the cut list and the instructions governing the operation that produced the discrepancy. The AHD Cuts Square article should be used only as a research navigator after its editorial review—not as a substitute for the tool manufacturer's instructions.
2 — Establish the Handle Layout
The two end components must use the same handle-location reference so the final handle geometry agrees. The current AHD drawing shows the intended relationship; determine the actual drilling setup from the instructions for the drill, bit, workholding and material you use.
3 — Compare the Parts in a Dry Assembly
Before applying adhesive or committing fasteners, use a non-permanent fit check to compare the part orientation and overall geometry with the AHD reference dimensions.
VERIFY 2 — Geometry Before Permanent Assembly
The reference concept is approximately 18 inches long and 8¾ inches wide when built around the stated stock dimensions. If your actual materials produce different relationships, understand why before modifying parts or proceeding.
4 — Assemble According to the Selected Connection System
The original AHD concept shows a screw-and-optional-adhesive assembly. Fastener size, pilot/lead-hole requirements, edge/end distances, penetration, adhesive use and tightening method are technical decisions that depend on the actual wood and products. Follow the relevant product/manufacturer guidance rather than treating this page as a fastening specification.
5 — Install and Verify the Handle System
The handle is a load-carrying component. Its fit and retention method should therefore be treated as a technical requirement, not improvised from the phrase “secure it appropriately.” If you do not have a validated retention method for the intended load, do not use AHD's drawing as proof that the handle is carry-ready.
6 — Surface Preparation and Finish
Address exposed splinters or rough contact surfaces using an appropriate method for the material and tool. If a finish is used, follow its manufacturer instructions for preparation, ventilation/protection, application and curing before use.
VERIFY — Route Problems to the Right Authority
The original troubleshooting table diagnosed causes and prescribed repairs too confidently. AHD can help identify where to look next without pretending to diagnose every woodworking failure remotely.
